Simple, Lightweight and Flexible Power Distribution IPD’s range of Powerduct sandwich-style busway systems are the ideal solution for distributing electrical power in low voltage commercial and industrial applications including high-rise buildings, data centres, distribution warehouses and shopping centres. The Powerduct series is available in ‘Feeder’ or ‘Plug-In’ lengths and ranges from 400A – 5000A (Aluminium) and up to 6300A (Copper). With flexibility in the series allows for different busbar configurations to suit the individual project requirements. The 3 phase and 100% neutral busbar configurations are the most commonly requested arrangement of the busbar system and additional neutral conductors can be provided to prevent overheating caused by harmonics. The sandwich-style construction of the Powerduct system eliminates air gaps between conductors except at the joints, providing a much lower impedance than cables, resulting in a decreased voltage drop on long busway runs. Each internal busbar has been individually coated with a non-hygroscopic, self-extinguishing epoxy and wrapped in Mylar for protection, providing the Powerduct with its own unique hybrid insulation. In addition, the busbar has been electroplated with tin at plug-in points and joints to maximise conductivity. The external housing has been constructed from extruded aluminium, providing the Powerduct with mechanical strength, protection from heavy impact, and acts as an integral earthing conductor. The anodised finish provides the Powerduct busway system with a natural look and high resistance to the effects of corrosion and ultraviolet light. Powerduct busway systems can be installed in any orientation and have a wide range of accessories available such as elbows, tees, flanged end connections for termination directly to switchboards and plug-in boxes for the safe tapping of power. One of the great features of the Powerduct busway system is the joint pack, with a double-headed bolt which shears off automatically when appropriate torque is applied. The expansion joints for the Powerduct busway system are available and can provide up to 50mm of thermal expansion. With a compact design, Powerduct is one of the smallest and lightest products on the market, improving spatial efficiency by up to 50% compared to traditional wiring and cable tray installations. All Powerduct products are manufactured with the highest quality components and have a lifespan of more than 30 years, if regularly maintained and serviced. The Powerduct busways system has been designed and tested to IEC 61439-6 and is compliant with AS/NZS 61439-6. Providing the highest level of safety from all aspects of design and installation. The key safety features of this system include low electrical losses, high fault current withstand capabilities, low temperature rise, seismic resistance and excellent ingress protection. The enclosure for Powerduct has been tested to IP66 for standard ‘feeder’ lengths and IP55 for ‘plug-in’. IPD’s offer is IP54 for indoor installations and IP66 for outdoor installations. All Powderduct products have been successfully tested to AS 1530.4 – Fire resistance through service penetrations, and there are over 100 external protection methods available through the TBA Firefly product range. Powerduct busway system has a modular design, allowing for a simple and cost-effective way to extend or modify existing installations. IPD will work with you to design a layout that works with your existing or new installation requirements, utilising the wide range of accessories and terminations available. Busway offers significant performance, time, cost, and safety benefits over traditional cabling methods, highlighting why it is the preferred choice for distributing electrical power in the industry. At IPD, not only can we assist you with the overall design and delivery of the busway system, we also offer installation as an additional service to help minimise your risk. IPD is the exclusive Australian distributor of Powerduct busway systems.
